Sept 27, 2012 - True Love

Dear Readers,

I lived in Seoul, Korea and I heard a true story that touched my heart. Back when Korea was at war, the Communist enemy came in with a vengeance. The Korean people were hurting, starving, and broken and had to move fast to find refuge from the turmoil. Winter came and temperatures dropped to freezing. An 81/2 month pregnant woman fled for her life with others after her husband was killed. They ate what they could find under the snow as well as bark from the trees to keep their strength.

Moving slower the woman fell back, yet, thinking of her baby she kept moving, remembering a missionary camp not too far away. Suddenly the night came, and it began snow. Finding a place to rest and get out of the storm she hid under an old wooden bridge. The temperature was freezing, and suddenly she had one great pain after another and realized she was going into labor. She cried out but no one heard her as she gave birth. Seeing the beautiful baby boy she remembered the love of her husband. The baby was cold, and his lips turned blue. She took off all her clothes and wrapped the baby tightly in a bundle; she curled in a ball to keep the baby warm, and that night she froze to death.

The following morning the missionaries set out to see who they could help. One missionary heard a noise and told her husband to stop. Standing still they heard something again. Climbing down and looking under the old wooden bridge, they were shocked to see the frail naked body. The husband taking off his jacket covered the woman up and reached down to carry her to the car. All of a sudden the little bundle moved. He beckoned his wife who hurried down and saw the bundle move. She saw the baby’s beautiful dark eyes look up at her. They surmised she must have tried to reach the missionary camp.

The husband carried the woman, and the wife carried the baby to the car. They buried the woman at the camp, and knowing the war left many orphans decided they would raise the baby boy.

Now grown, and the war over, the boy loved his adopted father and mother. One day he asked how they acquired him. They told him how his mother gave birth under the old wooden bridge in the freezing night. They shared how she took off her clothes to keep him from freezing so he could have life.

A few days passed, and looking for the young man they found him on his knees at his mother’s grave. Weeping, and taking off his clothes, he cried “Oh mother, oh mother I will keep you warm; I love you mother.” The father, filled with compassion, wept to see his son so broken. He knelt beside him covered him with a blanket, and held him in his arms like a child.

That day at the grave the father shared the story how Jesus was stripped, beaten and laid down his life at the Cross of Calvary so we may live and have eternal life. That day Jesus came into the heart of that young man, and he became a preacher.

Dear friends, Jesus loves you so much. John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Sept 20, 2012 - Look Where You Are Going

Look Where You Are Going

Dear Readers,

The other day riding my bicycle early morning after 6 a.m., the sun was just peeking through the clouds, with amazing colors only the Master from heaven could come up with. Oranges, pinks, gold, yellow, and the cloud formation had my eyes captured. Taken in by its beauty, I didn’t realize I was going over into the other lane, looking towards the direction I was looking up in the sky. I turned to see where I was going just in time before I got too far in the middle of the road. Whew, that was close, as the big truck came passing by at 65 miles an hour. “Look where you are going, because you are going where you are looking.” Reading in,

II Corinthians 4:18; while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Paul the Apostle is asking us to look with our SPIRITUAL eyes. Things all around us are subject to change, in one day your whole world can change. OPEN your eyes of FAITH; hold on to the promises of God’s Word. The Word of God will get you through all that’s in the natural. If you see only with your natural eyes you’re in trouble. Focusing on everything around you can be overwhelming. If all you see and look at is poverty, sickness, unbelief, fear, doubt, a terrible day, a terrible wife, a terrible husband, you will go where you are looking!

Keep your eyes on the eternal. Wake up knowing no matter what happens around you, Jesus has it all worked out. Hold on to God’s Word the Bible, it is a treasure chest of amazing strength, joy, healing, and victory. So many get into trouble, because they don’t watch where they are going. Be careful because you are going where you are looking. Keep your eyes on Christ, not the things of this world, or the trials that will come your way, KEEP YOUR SPIRITUAL EYES open, and focused.

The man or woman, who only looks through natural eyes, can’t really see at all. If all you see is the storm, then you will not see the storm calmer. If all you see is a falling economy, then you will not see the One who multiplies the fish and the bread. If all you see is a defeated marriage, then that’s where you are going. If all you see is sickness, you can’t see the healer. If all you see is the mountain in front of you, then you can’t see the mountain mover. Open your spiritual eyes dear one. WOW, what victory, when you do.

Sept 13, 2012 – Angry In My Trial

Tue, Sep 11, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Dr. Luauna,

I’m going through such a hard time; I can’t believe God would allow me to go through so much. I feel surrounded by trouble and I’m mad! I thought being a Christian was better than what I had; I’m ready to throw in the towel. Signed Angry

Dear Angry,

Well, first of all, I was reminded of a song the Children of Israel sang after they crossed the Red Sea. A great song indeed, the only problem they should have sung that song on the other side before they crossed the sea. You see dear one, it is easy to sing a VICTORY song when you have the victory. Before the children of Israel crossed over, they were up against the great sea. And when they turned around their enemy was coming upon them with 600 warrior chariots, and Pharaoh’s army. (Exodus 14:1-12)

They were not singing, they were complaining. They were yelling at Moses, “You brought us out to this place to kill us!” They also thought about throwing in the towel, they yelled we want to go back in bondage to the Egyptians. All they could see was the circumstance before them. They did not really know the GOD they served, although He showed them His mighty power before many times over. (Exodus Chapters 6-12)

Moses knew God had a plan. God Almighty always has a plan! Maybe you are being tested. Sing a song in your time of testing! Don’t be found singing a victory song after you have spoken evil of God, and have torn down the faith of others because of your words. Sure the children of Israel sang a victory song on the other side. (Exodus 15:1-18)

Because the children of Israel didn’t learn to sing in their trial, a bad habit of complaining was formed. MOST of them died in the wilderness later. WHY? They were snared by their own words of DEATH, and they didn’t trust, believe and have faith that God IS ABLE. Sing a song of faith in your trial dear one, and God will get you through to the other side. OUR GOD is MIGHTY and ABLE! He’s working everything out for His GLORY. SO Sing! Sing and Sing. Psalms 101:1; I will sing of mercy and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing.

Sept 6, 2012 - Apart We Are Nothing

Fri, Sep 7, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Readers, Where does our WORTH and success really come from? Let me share a little story. Two donkeys were grazing in the field in Jerusalem, one donkey said, “I don’t understand it, it was just yesterday everyone was throwing their clothes and palms down, singing Hosanna when I was carrying Jesus on my back, but now I am back to being nothing! Those people don’t even acknowledge that it was I that carried Him.” The other donkey said, “That’s how it works brother you are NOTHING without Jesus.”
Sometimes we can forget God the Father has a great plan for our lives. He holds the blueprints, He always has. We were created for His purpose. But, human nature has a tendency,” Let’s just push it through, I will make it WORK.”
The other day I was looking at a beautiful rose bush I noticed the different roses, each one budding at different times. My eye caught a tightly closed bud, then another opened just a bit more, and then I noticed the rose that was opened all the way each petal was so perfect.
As looked at the rose, I realized human nature sometimes tries to force a dream, desire, or relationship to happen. Many trying so hard to force something open, and Jesus is nowhere in the plans. You see I could have reached down and forced open the tightly closed rosebud. But it would have died, and the delicate petals would have fallen to the ground prematurely. God opens each rosebud in His perfect timing. Allow Jesus to be a part of your plans, He will open the door for you in His perfect timing.

Psalms 37:4; Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Proverbs 3:5-6; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean NOT on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Don’t be like the donkey, and desire to be noticed, because without Jesus we are nothing.

Aug 23, 2012 - Full Circle

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Readers,

I was asked to share this story I wrote a few years back from a trip I took called Mission America, where our team shared the gospel from San Diego California to the East coast at every stop gas stations, hotels, and churches. To read the full story and see pictures go to www.atouchfromabove.org on the right side of my website; Under Articles scroll down to; “When God Takes You Full Circle.”

Stopping in Pueblo Colorado to see an old friend to share our mission, and set up a meeting in his church. I was so proud of this man and his wife, just spending time at lunch was a blessing. Pastor Darin turned to his wife and said, “We are going to have a three day meeting, I know its God.” We all smiled at each other, I asked, “So where is your church?” I wanted to get the address so I could print up some flyers. Pastor Darin then went on to tell me how God opened the door for him to have his church in an old building, that use to be an orphanage. RIGHT THEN my heart skipped a beat! I looked into his eyes and said, “Is it the old Sacred Heart Orphanage?”

He was surprised, and answered, “Yes.” Wow, I shared with him, “I was in that orphanage as a child,” right then I KNEW without a doubt God was going to do SOMETHING more than I could even imagine. Many years back, I asked my mother about that building, she had told me it had been knocked down, and all these years I thought the building no longer existed.

God’s amazing grace, to find out it has not been tore down at all! Now, years later, I have returned and will preach in the very same building. Plans were made, and after lunch Pastor Darrin asked if I wanted to see the church. We agreed and I followed him to the church. As we drove up towards the entrance, I suddenly went back to yesteryear. The old rock walls awakened some old memories, long ago forgotten.

As we drove into the parking lot, a thousand memories went through my mind, like an old movie, one frame at a time; rolled back into time. I wasn’t sure what I was going to feel. I wandered throughout that old brick building I was astonished, as I remembered so many things I thought I forgot. Walking up and down those halls, I was the little girl who once cried herself to sleep every night and now I was all grown up. I ran my hands along the walls and up the old wooden carved stair banister rails, like I did as a child.

I climbed each floor now as an adult remembering the very foot steps I took as a child. The tile floors were still the same with their tiny ceramic squares up and down each hall. Then we walked into the little church. As a child it seemed so much bigger, I remembered walking down the very same aisle, the only difference was the wooden floors were now replaced with carpet. The old statues throughout the church were now gone. I walked to the front, turned left and stood in front of the same wooden pew I sat as a child. Sitting down right in the same spot I was made to sit as a little girl, my eyes starting from one side of the platform looking around the whole church until I covered every inch of that room.

I remembered services as a child in this building. At one point thinking, God hates me that was why my mother left me in this place as a child. I sat thinking of all the silent tears and cries that must be hidden away in the walls of this old building, as thousands of young children were rejected by their mothers and fathers. Hearts so broken, and filled with rejection and anger! Now this very same building, has become a place of redemption, freedom, joy, and victory, where life is given back to the broken hearted, and healing is brought to the oppressed.

Sunday morning service arrived and people started filling up the church in the orphanage. As I ministered I noticed two strong, distinguished looking men sitting in the back row. I gave the altar call, and they both raised their hands to receive Jesus, the Holy Spirit placed a great compassion for these two brothers. I spoke out to them, “You have been rejected, and Jesus wants to bring healing.” I went back to pray for them, and I could see tears in their eyes. One of the men asked looked up at me with the eyes of a little boy, “Do you remember us? We were in this orphanage at the same time you were here.” I looked at them and searched my memory. As a little girl, I was so broken and scared. (To read the whole story, go to my website) Ministering to these brothers, and leading them to Jesus, we cried, and wept because we found a true Father.

As I left the building on the last day I stood in the parking lot next to my car, I turned to look at that old building one more time before leaving. I felt like the Spirit of the Lord showed me a picture in my mind of a runner as they run across the finish line, hands lifted up and chest forward. The Holy Spirit was speaking to my heart, “LOOK, where I have brought you from, look at the VICTORY, we have WON! What the devil thought for bad, God has turned for good. You have My approval. You are My servant. I’m your FATHER I will never leave you.” I saw myself right then and there run through a yellow ribbon in my mind; I lifted my hands high in the air in that parking lot, and shouted, “Rejection, you have no place in this little girl, it is finished!”

Why did I share just part of my story? Many have shared with me how they feel so rejected. I wanted you to know, Jesus loves you so much! Only Jesus can bring you full circle, with healing in His hands. Psalms 51:12 and Psalms 23:3.

August 30, 2012 - Even If You Cry No One Hears You

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Readers,

Two weeks ago a guest came to share his story on my radio program, A Touch From Above with Dr. Luauna, Sundays at 6 -7 a.m. 1210 KPRZ. Please to hear PK’s whole radio interview go to: www.atouchfromabove.org click on the KPRZ logo then click the link in the center. (PK’s Beatings)

PK always volunteers for work around the Prayer Mountain, never asking for anything in return. I though to myself, I would like to know more about this young man who works so diligently. I call him PK to protect him, his wife and four kids. “Tell me how you came to the United States,” I asked him. He began to tell me his story; I knew he had not shared this story for it was still a fresh wound in his heart. Tears swelled up in his eyes as he shared how he was kidnapped and beaten so badly his teeth were knocked out, he was left to die. The same type of men years earlier kidnapped his father and killed him. Later his family found their daddy’s body thrown on an old road.

Now they were coming after PK, now grown with a wife and four kids. PK came from Congo, Africa where in just minutes your whole world can turn upside down. He was locked in a room four different times. His family never knew if he was dead or alive. They tied PK’s wrists together and then tied his ankles together. They took a long stick and ran it between his ankles up through his hands like someone would roast a pig on a stick.

Fourteen hours he hung naked, as seven men beat him with sticks, and for three weeks, they beat him. PK said, “Even if you cry, no one hears you.” But GOD heard PK. A security guard checking to make sure the area was locked down, as he discovered the opened the door, he stood shocked to see this man laying on the floor naked covered with blood from his head to feet. He picked PK up, and took him to the hospital. He asked PK, who can I call for you? He gave his uncle’s name. His uncle came and saw PK in this condition; he knew it was only a matter of time before the same people would find him again, only the next time they would make sure they killed him.

His uncle collecting very little money because they were poor, gave it to PK, and told him RUN for your life. That night broken, hurting and not saying goodbye to his wife and four kids, PK fled from the hospital. He walked for days in the night, no shoes, little food, dirty, filled with blood, and not enough money. He came into…!

You will need to go to my website to hear this whole heart gripping story from PK, how God heard PK’s cries when no one else did. WARNING: Some details are very graphic.

August 16,2012 - Tears & Brokenness

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Readers,

I want to share something with you today from my heart. Are you going through something so over whelming? Do you find yourself weeping in the night when no one is around? Trials pressing upon you and you don’t know what to do? I receive many calls for prayer, emails and letters. It seems like many are going through a dark time of trials.

I want to share about a mighty warrior, his name was King David, and the bible says he was a man after God’s own heart. He had many victories under his belt. Many might remember the slaying of the giant Goliath. With boldness, 5 small stones and his slingshot he hurled a stone right into Goliath’s forehead, and down to the ground Goliath went. (Read the victory in I Samuel 17:1-58)

King David had many victories. But I want to share about a time of brokenness in this mighty warrior King David’s life. In Psalm 6:6-7; I am weary with my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.

Sometimes life throws us a fast one and it’s unexpected. What do you do when you feel like you are falling apart inside? When it seems like you can barley get up in the morning because of brokenness? My dear readers, TRUST in the LORD, call upon JESUS for His strength. When we are weak, He is strong, when we can’t see because darkness surrounds us. He will be our light, when we don’t have the direction, He will give us wisdom.

King David, as we read all through the Psalm’s we see how GOD became his strength. Psalm 16:1; Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. We must place our trust in the Lord God Almighty who is able to heal, restore, and bring victory to every situation. Call upon the Lord in PRAYER for HIS perfect will, and strength, do not lean on your own strength. When it’s too hard; remember Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. God restored King David, and God also restored Job, in the very mist of GREAT pain and loss. In middle of pain, Job cries out! Job 19:25; For I know my Redeemer lives, and He shall stands at last on the earth.

Job 42:12, 17; Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; 17; So Job died, old and full of days.

Your Heavenly Father loves you, and His desire is to bring you HIS love & strength, lean on His shoulders, they are bigger and stronger. Today I pray healing, blessing, and restoration for your life. Hold ON dear one, and remember when you are hardest hit, you must not quit.

God bless you. Turn on your radio every Sunday 6-7 a.m. 1210 KPRZ AM.   Join me for church service 10 a.m. A Touch From Above 16145 Hwy 67 Ramona, CA 92065    Visit my website www.atouchfromabove.org To write:   drluauna@atouchfromabove.org

August 9,2012 - Wake-up Call

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Dr. Luauna, Thank you for sharing in the last newspaper about woman complaining. I have found myself tearing down my own home. A wake up call greatly needed, I do want to change and do right today. HOW?  Signed Wake-up Call

Dear Wake-up Call,

Thank you for stepping up to the plate as many responded. First place in change is seeing you need a change. To have a successful family life, we must understand. Christianity is the only strong foundation for successful family life. God instituted marriage to provide the fullest life possible for men and women. Please take time out and read these verses. Genesis; 2:18-25, Marriage provides a basis for growth and fulfillment spiritually, mentally and physically. Matthew; 19:4-6, The Word of God gives guidelines for a good marriage partner. They must believe in Christ Jesus, II Corinthians; 6:14. They must agree with beliefs and goals, Amos; 3:3. Must not be quarrelsome or given to strife Proverbs; 21:9. MUST be willing to change and renew your minds, Romans; 12:2. Both must be responsible and disciplined. I Corinthians 4:2.

Marriage must be entered into with right motives. One must go into marriage with the right motive to give our love and share our life with the other person. A relationship based on the following negative motives will be destroyed, romance or emotions, physical looks, sex, loneliness, wanting to get away from parents, or wanting someone to take care of us and our children.

In marriage the two live as one, not separate individuals. You are a team, learn to communicate as one. Ephesians 4:29-32; Proverbs 15: 1,2,21,23; Proverbs 31:26; Matthew 5:37. Basic areas of communication are, sex, money, children, spiritual life, activities, careers or business, friends, and appearance. Love & submission are two keys for a successful marriage, Ephesians 5:21-26. The husband and wife must submit to each other. The husband must be allowed to be the head of the house on final decisions. When both husband and wife are submitted to Christ Jesus, this can be done and the reward will be a GREAT MARRIAGE.

Come to church, Jesus loves you so much. Sunday 10 a.m. A Touch From Above, 16145 Hwy 67, Ramona, CA 92065 and TURN your radio on Sunday at 6-7 a.m. 1210 KPRZ. Log on to my website; www.atouchfromabove.org - You-Tube; Dr. Luauna Stines.  To Write; drluauna@atouchfromabove.org

August 2, 2012 - Unhappy Wife

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Dear Dr. Luauna,

I have been married 26 years, I am unhappy, I tell my husband how unsatisfied I have been all these years.  We never have had an intimate sex life at all, I don’t like sex.  He is faithful to church, and a great provider, good father but I am unhappy. Signed, Unhappy Wife

Dear Unhappy Wife,

After receiving many, many letters like yours, it took me time and prayer before I considered responding. I write this with love.  First, it is unfair to expect for anyone to fill your happy jar daily.  NO person can make you happy, happiness comes from within.  I have seen many women complain about their husbands.  They cover ungratefulness with comments like; he is a faithful man, faithful provider, and a great father. Would you rather have an unfaithful man, lazy, and a terrible father?

You have told him for years how unsatisfied you are, it’s no wonder your sex like is terrible.  Maybe you should stop complaining and take a good look in the mirror of your life.  The problem is not your husband. You are the one with the problem.  You’ve wasted 26 years complaining. They could have been beautiful years.  Sex is God’s gift and beautiful between a husband and wife, and with time, and gentleness sex only gets better. Trust is built, and love grows stronger with time and understanding.  You need to change your evil thinking. Your own words are destroying your home. Proverbs 31:10-31 You should work on becoming a virtuous woman. Verse 12 is powerful; she does her husband good not evil all the days of her life.

You have been blessed with a great man, rare these days.  No, not perfect!  Love him; he deserves a trophy for staying in his marriage for 26 years with a woman who has been so ungrateful. Remember, there are millions of amazing Godly women who are waiting for a faithful Godly man, and a faithful provider.  Proverbs 14:1; Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.

With love I write this today, please don’t be upset.  Change before it’s too late.  You will lose a gift sent from above, your husband.

July 28 2012 - Sinking

Fri, Aug 31, 2012

Posted in: Uncategorized

Dear Dr. Luauna,

I’m having a very hard time, I find myself defending God’s Word? What is going on, many around me are falling apart. I need answers for them, and at the same time I feel weak myself.   Signed, Sinking

Dear Sinking,

HOLD ON.  I’m bringing you a life jacket.  It may seem many are falling apart yet do not join them.  The key to any victorious life is to follow God’s Word. Many desire for God to speak to them, HE already has through the Bible.  He desires to give mankind abundant life. Before salvation we walked in darkness, blinded by sin.  There is NO problem to hard for Jesus and many do not need to fall apart.  His love and Word brings freedom to a troubled heart.

Proverbs 4:20-23; My son, give attention to my Words, Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let hem depart from your eyes; keep them in the mist of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Through Salvation in Christ Jesus our lives are turned around.  Freedom comes within, and Jesus becomes more than just Sunday morning.  He desires to be Lord of our heart, life and minds 24 / 7.  If we stay in His Word, He gives us a strength the world does not understand nor will they ever.  Proverbs 6:23; For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life.  Proverbs 14:12; There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

The world tries to get away from God’s Word.  People for generations have always questioned God’s WORD.  Heaven and earth will pass away but GOD’S Word will abide FOREVER.  Nothing will replace the VICTORY Jesus Christ brings to someone who will open their heart.  Proverbs 16:20; He who heeds the Word wisely will find GOOD, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. This World seeks for riches, yet it is JESUS who is the greatest GIFT and gift giver to all who will come to Him.  Proverbs 22:4; By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life. I want to share my short video on Holy Spirit Power part one. Please take time out and watch the video on my website.  You will learn your strength comes from the Holy Spirit’s Power. This was a Promise from Jesus to you and I.

Through God’s Word our life is changed, and power comes from Him. Through any situation God’s WORD is our strength.  Don’t sink; hold on to the WORD of GOD.  Psalm 119:107; I am afflicted very much; revive me, O LORD, according to your word.  Psalm 119:154; Plead my cause and redeem me; Revive me according to Your word. Come hear the Word of God, and grow in His strength.  Join me for Church service Sunday 10 a.m. A Touch From Above 16145 Hwy 67, Ramona, CA 92065. Tune in Sunday 7 a.m. 1210 KPRZ.
