Dear Readers,

A while back I lived in the state of Oregon in the country. Each morning as I drove into work I was taken in by the beauty of those emerald fields, miles of green pasture hills that looked so soft. The early morning sunlight beaming across those fields was a picture never to be removed from the memory of my mind.

One day I decided to take my camera and take a few pictures. Pulling my car over, while stepping off the car I noticed one great, big beautiful oak tree in the middle of this field. The sunlight was hitting it just right, and about a dozen sheep were so comfortably lounging under this tree. I thought, wow, what a great picture. Closing my car door quietly, I stepped out of my car to capture this amazing breath taking picture.

I lifted my camera to take a picture, holding my breath, as to not get out of focus, I clicked my camera. Suddenly I heard a noise to my left, a cry so loud it frightened me. Jumping and turning to see where this cry was coming from, my heart beating what seemed like 90 miles an hour. Catching my breath, as I realized it was a little sheep hanging upside down and all twisted in the barbed wire. As I came closer, and tried to help this helpless little sheep, she panicked and cried. Looking to see how to untangle the little sheep was no easy chore. I realized the little sheep must have tried to eat the grass on the other side of the fence. While stepping in between the lower wire and the second wire, she must have slipped trying to get over and got all tangled up, and now she was hanging upside down. After finding someone to help me untangle her, she was just happy to be free, and ran to the herd under the big oak tree.

Sitting in my car, and late to my office the Holy Spirit spoke gently to my heart. Like that little sheep tangled in the barbed wire so trapped and hurting, and could have been killed if a coyote would have found it first, are like so many of my people, says the Lord. Christians, caught and trapped in sin, caught in relationships they should not be in, hanging with the wrong people, trapped in vices, drugs, drinking, things they know are not good for them. Like this little sheep’s thinking, the grass was greener on the other side; it was a trick in this sheep’s mind. The field the sheep was in had everything it needed to be satisfied. Take a moment, and read Psalm 23:1-6. The Great Shepherd wants to satisfy your life, and all your needs. He can get you out of the trap you are in. Jesus loves you, and is just waiting for you to ask Him, cry out, LORD HELP ME. Psalm 30:10; Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!”

Dear Readers,

The last year has come to an end, and the New Year 2013 is come. Some are asking themselves, where did the time go? Time is so valuable, don’t waste it. It seems like just yesterday, I was 25 years old, what happened? Well, I won’t tell my age today, but 25 years have come and gone. Ecclesiastes 3:1; To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

Wisdom in life comes from the One who created you. Genesis 1:26; Then God said, “Let Us make man in our own image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” You were born for greatness, created by the Master. You are special, and made with perfection. God has prepared a plan for your life long before the foundation of the earth. Like the great prophet Jeremiah 1:5; “before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you: and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” We are called for a purpose in this life, no, maybe not a prophet, or great singer or a well digger. You are called for GREATNESS, God loves you so much.

God’s desire is to unfold His plan for your life, His love, His perfect will. Can mankind really know God’s plan for their life? Yes! How does one find this plan so divine? First, it comes in knowing the Master who created you in His image. Psalm 30:10; Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper! Like a builder of a great house, he must look to the plans of the architect who prepared the plans, in order for the builder to build with success. If the builder takes short cuts, he wastes time, and things will need rebuilding. Throwing valuable time away, when all the builder had to do was follow the plans of the master architect. Don’t take short cuts with your life, time a valuable commodity. Some waste their whole life trying to build their own lives without the Master.

Can the clay on the potter’s wheel say to the potter, no I want my life like this or that? Isaiah 45:9; Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to the one who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands?’ Isaiah 64:8 But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and you our Potter; and all we are the work of Your Hand.

How much time have you wasted trying to work out your own life? It’s not too late. Let GO, allow Jesus, the Almighty who loves you so much and has created you for greatness to have His will in your life. Psalm 37:3-5; Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

How do you start the New Year off without throwing away anymore time? Ask Jesus to come and be your Lord, to forgive you of all your sins. Ask Him to be the Master Potter of your life, and you the clay. Let Him build your life the way He created you for, it’s much more rewarding. Find a great Bible believing church, learn His Word, and His perfect plan will soon unfold.

You are born for GREATNESS. You are special. You are loved. God bless you.

Dear Readers,

It has been two years since I started Mission San Diego. I hold a church service on the street every Wednesday in the middle of the city. First service is on Imperial and 14th, one block from the homeless tent at 11 a.m., then at 12 noon a second service on Third and Broadway. Taking the gospel message of Jesus outside the four walls of the church, I set up my pulpit and microphone, I start with a prayer, song and then a Bible message.

Thousands of hurting people, many are broken inside, I can feel a force of darkness that controls so many homeless people. Yet, looking into their eyes, I see some desire to be free, but they have lost control, and are in need of Jesus.

People stroll by as I preach, beautiful women and men who have great jobs, yet they too are filled with fear. I meet many who have once been in high places with prestigious jobs, now wandering the streets overtaken in confusion of their minds, barely able to carry a normal conversation, with a stench so strong from not bathing, and clothes just as dirty.

At first I thought to myself, what I am I doing out here, is anyone listening? Yet people are coming for prayer, they are looking for Hope, JESUS is our HOPE. I know the Lord has me ministering on those streets on Wednesdays for a reason. Jesus hurts for people. Many great people give the homeless food, clean socks, and blankets, yet it is only JESUS who can change them from the inside.

Some people refuse the message of Hope and Salvation. Yet each week I must try to reach them before the trumpet calls, I Thessalonians 4:16-17. The TRUTH can set mankind free from sin! I see amazing people, young and old, black and white, rich and poor, and I am reminded, I too was in darkness, and lost without Jesus 33 years ago until someone interrupted my life while I was walking out of a 7-11 store. I was broken, successful in the eyes of the world, but bankrupted in heart. Scarred by sin, and walking in darkness, I was blind but now I see. I am saved to SAVE, why am I out on those streets?

Maybe a mother is praying for her wayward teenager a run away, and wandering the streets. Maybe a grandmother praying for her grandson bound on drugs. Maybe a wife and her children are crying out in prayer for their daddy who gave in to a state of despair.

Why a Church Service on the street? Over 250 people have come to Jesus since January 2010. One woman who prayed for her husband, who was bound on drugs for 20 years, came to Jesus; he walked up boldly to receive Jesus right on the street. The next week he returned, only this time, with the whole family, his two teen boys wept as they asked Jesus into their heart.

Is it easy for me to have a church service on the streets? No, many people make fun, and many mock. I Corinthians 1:18; For the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the POWER of God.

Every week Jesus is changing a life. One soul at a time I am watching the Holy Spirit move in His power. Another beautiful woman tormented by voices, is now learning to fight those forces in prayer and the Word of God. The streets are filled with people; some with their grocery carts, sit along the wall, and listen to the Word of God. Some leave the same; some are being transformed one sermon at a time. I see a GREAT need to gather in a harvest.

You may never step out on those streets, or even understand what I am saying. But I’m asking for your prayers. I am called to GO Forth. Thank you for your prayers. If you desire to help me reach the lost, please give through my website: www.atouchfromabove.org

I purchase Bibles for those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord. The greatest gift we can give at Christmas is JESUS a gift that lives on for eternity.

Dear Readers,

Sometimes we get hit with an unexpected blow. It seems like it comes right around Christmas time. Like the evil one is just waiting, and when you are just getting a step ahead, BAMM. Don’t let the evil one throw you off your course, stay strong through the storm. A powerful verse in Matthew 7:24-25; “therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to be a wise man who built his house on the ROCK. And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the ROCK.”

Jesus is the Rock of Ages. Life is filled with unexpected circumstances, all kinds, a sudden death, sickness, marriage betrayal, a teenager who is haywire, or a letter in the mail with notice of losing your home, or being laid off from your job. The list goes on and on.

My dear friends, you can trust in the Lord, He promises to keep us in the palm of His hand. I think of Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den. In Daniel chapter six, God could have delivered him right out of the den. Instead He closed the mouths of the lions.

Three Hebrew boys, who wouldn’t bow to evil, were thrown into the fiery furnace in Daniel 6:23. God again could have delivered them right on the spot, instead God was with them in the furnace, and kept them from burning up in that fire. Another powerful true story is found in the book of Esther, chapter three. We find a man who loves God by the name of Mordecai, one man whose name was Haman, he hated Mordecai and longed to have him killed. Haman plotted to have him hung and built a large gallows. But God is always faithful to those who trust HIM in times of trouble. You will see at the end of Haman’s plot, he was hung on his own gallows.

Job went through very hard times, God restored all he lost. There are so many more wonderful stories of God’s love and faithfulness for those who will trust HIM. Are you hit with something unexpected this Christmas? Pray, cry out, Jesus loves you. Psalm 37:3; Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Proverbs 3:5-6; Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Hold on, God will be with you. I love you dear one, and so does our Heavenly Father.

Dear Readers,

WOW, it’s that time of year, I love it, Christmas! We hear the songs all around, “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and so many more amazing Christmas songs. I want to share with you today, don’t allow your mind to get caught up in the world’s way of thinking, “Happy Holidays.” When you greet someone, greet them with the Christmas spirit, “Merry Christmas” and smile real big.

Christmas is not about how much money you have to spend, or how many gifts you have to buy. Stop! Don’t spend what you don’t have. The greatest gift is you, your love, your kindness, a baked cookie and a warm smile is worth a million.

Years ago, before I knew what Christmas was really all about, I hated Christmas. I was sad, broken, a single mother, and just trying to make ends meet. It seemed like they never met. Then someone told me about Jesus, a baby born in a manger, a child who was born for my sins. Who lived and walked 33 years on the earth and did only good. Healed the sick, opened blind eyes, made the lame walk, and even brought deliverance to a few who were filled with demonic forces.

His kindness didn’t stop there, now grown, Jesus, willingly went to the Cross, the Lamb of God, who would take away MY sins. At that Cross forgiveness was offered to me and to all who would come to repentance. My need for a Savior was great, after all I knew I had done things in my life I personally needed to be forgiven for. Taking that first step of faith to come to Jesus was the hardest step ever, why? Because I couldn’t wrap my human mind and understanding around this amazing love. Looking back today, 33 years later, it was the greatest step I have ever taken in my whole life.

WOW, joy, unspeakable joy. A peace which surpasses all man’s understanding, and knowing I’m forgiven. To know my Lord and Savior’s love today is the greatest gift that I can give to all mankind, a gift which lasts throughout eternity.

Salvation is the greatest gift to give to all mankind. This gift won’t be thrown in the closet the day after Christmas or left outside to get rusted. Christmas is the greatest gift of all, God’s LOVE. Celebrate this Christmas wrapped in the Joy of the Lord.

Abused & Broken (Part 4)

Dear Reader, (Continuing from last week) This man was still in the military reserves, one weekend he was called out. Still filled with hate, and now in another state for only 2 days, he was walking down an alley in the evening. He noticed a young, beautiful, teenage girl lying on her couch watching television. He crept unnoticed to the unlocked sliding glass door, looking down he saw a bowling pin. Picking it up, he entered the house he raped the young girl then killed her. Going upstairs he raped and killed the mother, and in the next room he killed her little bother who was fast asleep.

Returning from his reserve trip he went about his business as if nothing happened. Finally he turned himself in; the police, surprised this man was the one who killed three people. At first they didn’t believe him, until he described in detail how he killed each one. He was sentenced to death row.

Why did I share this story? Because many men and women don’t heed wise counsel, Proverbs 10:17; He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, But he who refuses reproof goes astray. The importance of being a part of a church is to help you, and to lead you in the right direction. A true pastor will care enough for your soul to tell you the truth, even if you don’t like it. We must never fight against truth and wise counsel. The Bible shares a powerful verse. Proverbs 14:12; There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is the way of death.

What happened to this young woman? Again, against all wise counsel she started dating another, she was still broken inside. She became so overwhelmed in sorrow, she took her own life. She died before she was 40 years old. She was so beautiful; God had so many great things prepared for her. Yet she was unwilling to surrender her whole heart to God, and she wouldn’t heed counsel. Satan stole her soul, future, and destiny. John 10:10; The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”

Five people died needlessly. This is a heart gripping true story, and painful to many. Yet this story could have all turned out differently if only the first two people, the woman and the man had OBEYED the Word of God, and heeded counsel. James 1:22; But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

A true pastor watches over your soul. I have been in ministry for over 30 years, and this is only one story. I have had 500 women come through my women’s homes, hurting and broken deep within, and over 250 men in my men’s homes. Many stories of VICTORY to those who were willing to let, go and let God. I trust the Lord to provide so I can purchase another women’s home. WHY? Because the need is great, and my heart is to rescue, and bring healing to these BROKEN hearts. To help them break the curse off their lives, and help them raise their children according to God’s Word.

I’m a true pastor, and no, I don’t have a big church. WHY? Because I have made a promise to God to preach the WHOLE TRUTH of His Word, and I’m here to see God change lives, and get you into heaven. And for me to stand before my Heavenly Father and hear Him say to me, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.” God bless you! If you would like to help me purchase another home for women, you can give right online. www.atouchfromabove.org Thank you, your gifts help change lives.

Abused & Broken (Part 3)

Dear Reader, (Continuing from last week) He Yelled, “Get out of here, we’re going to another church.” I walked away hurting for her. One year passed and one morning I felt this overwhelming burden inside to find this young woman. Not knowing where they lived, we checked everywhere to find her address. Finding it, I asked Jill to go with me. Knocking on her door she answered, the screen door was locked, and she was surprised to see me. I looked into her eyes I knew she was broken. “Open the door, I want a hug.” She opened the door, and I reached in and hugged her. I felt knots throughout her head, I held her face in my hands and looked her right in the eye, and asked her “Are you OK?” Tears swelled up, she tried to look away. Again I asked, “Are you OK?” All of a sudden she was scared and said, “You need to go before he comes and finds you here!” We were in her front room, when she heard the sound of a loud truck outside. She jumped, and said, “OH NO! You need to hide!” Her face was filled with fear! She pushed us up the stairs, and told us, please hide! Within seconds Jill and I were upstairs and sitting on the floor of her closet, I looked at Jill and asked, “What are we doing in this closet?”

All of a sudden we heard him scream, and then I heard a slap, and then another. I was about to jump out of the closet, when Jill grabbed my arm, she said, “Wait just a few more minutes.” Again He yelled, “You made me forget my cigarettes!” Another slap, he was screaming as he walked out the door, “I will be right back I’m going to the store.” I heard the truck drive away. I jumped out of that closet ninety miles an hour. By this time this young woman was in the room apologizing. “I am so sorry!” She was filled with fear and so broken down, I knew right then why the Lord put her on my heart. She had been beaten over and over, right after they were married. I grabbed an arm full of her clothes hanging in the closet, and told her, whatever you want, throw it on the bed; we’re getting you out of here. She was frozen in fear, she said, “He’ll kill me, if I leave he will kill me!” I looked at her and said, “If you don’t leave, he’ll KILL YOU.”

Throwing as much of her stuff on the bed, Jill and I grabbed the corners of the bedspread and walked down the stairs, throwing the big bundle in the back of the truck. I told her “Get in the middle and hide.” We drove off, and sure enough when we were just around the corner, we saw his truck. Eyes straight ahead, we reached one of the women’s homes I knew he didn’t know about, we helped her unpack. She was petrified by fear, I reached over and gave her a hug and told her let’s pray, as she prayed she wept uncontrollably. I knew she was hurting so deep inside.

Dear Reader, (Continuing from last week) Watching this beautiful woman walk away after our talk, she was so tall she looks like a model, I thought to myself. A few church meetings later, I noticed he wasn’t giving up; his target was this young woman. I wondered if I should talk to him, I decided I would. Pulling him aside I shared how important it is to grow in the Lord before dating one of the women in the Women’s Home. His half twisted smile, he just glared at me, without flinching an inch, I knew he wasn’t listening to me. That warning light came on again.

His gifts and complements won her over, I tried to talk to her, but he had convinced her he was madly in love with her. (I knew he meant in lust with her, because love can wait, and lust can’t.) Sunday service they were nowhere to be found, I felt a knot in the pit of my stomach when I went home and saw all her stuff was moved out of the house. They stopped coming to church. A month passed, and praying for her it was by the grace of God I found their address, they had moved in together.

I knocked on the door and stepped off the porch, sure enough a window opened up on the second floor. He looked down at me; I asked, “Can I please speak to the young woman?” That same smirk on his face, as to say you lost, I won! She came to the window; both of their heads were sticking out the window. I asked her, “Can I please speak to you for a moment?” He answered for her, “No, what you need to say you can say from where you are.” I asked her, “Why did you leave the way you did?” I shared they shouldn’t be living together. The Bible makes it clear and in the eyes of God it is wrong. He answered for her again. I finally said to him, “With all respect, I’m not talking to you right now.” I asked her to please allow me some time to talk with her alone. I could see she knew better. “I told her how much the Lord loves her and how I loved her too, “God has something special for you,” I told her.

I tried to convince her to please come back home give it time and then get married. He became very angry, he then spoke words of manipulation, telling her, “Don’t listen to her, God knows we love each other and we will get married in time.” My heart sank as I saw her melt with his every word. I knew it was a war between heaven and hell. I never begged anyone like I begged her that day, but something inside of me knew this was not going to turn out right. Then all of a sudden he yelled, (NEXT WEEK Part 3- Don’t miss this TRUE STORY)

Abused & Broken Part-1

Dear Readers,

I met a young girl hurting and broken, she lived with her with a mother who was a prostitute, and unwilling to change. This young girl gave her heart to Jesus, and moved into my Woman’s Christian home. I knew she didn’t realize how beautiful she was, nor did she know her worth. After about one year of studying God’s Word, I could see the amazing change in her life. The wonderful smile on her face as all the girls sat around the fire place eating popcorn in their pj’s, at night sharing their hearts and future dreams. The women’s home was a place of safety for these girls.

Two years passed, and what a beauty she was, like a flower bloomed in spring, she was so delicate, she learned how to sew and started making all her own clothes. Modestly made, and fit her beautifully, never revealing like her mother. One day a young strong handsome man came into church, with his ten ton Bible in one hand. I noticed he was always watching this young girl from the other side of the church. Something in my heart like an alarm went off, warning, warning!

It was just a matter of time and he made sure he caught her attention; he always made sure he complemented her, and in time he was bringing her small gifts. One day without notice everyone had left church, and just a few cars were in the lot. I saw his car parked and I walked over to his car he didn’t hear me approaching. He was squatting down looking at his tire, it had gone flat. When I walked up around the car he still hadn’t noticed me. He was out of control, hitting the flat tire over and over with his fist, cursing, language and words pouring out of his mouth non stop.

Then all of a sudden, he caught my shadow, jumped up, and took on a whole different personality. He smiled real big and said, “Hello ma’am,” as he reached for his Bible laying beside his tire; he smiled and said, “It looks like I’ve got a flat tire.” I, of course didn’t want to embarrass him, I smile and asked, “Do you need help? No thanks, I’ve got it.”

Walking away that day from the car and thinking about his outrage of anger, the warning light came on again in my heart. That afternoon I sat down on the old porch with the beautiful young woman who this man I knew had his eye on. I shared with her how important it was to give him time to grow in the Lord. She smiled and giggled as she looked at me and said, “He’s so cute. Yes, I know,” taking her hands in mine I looked at her in the eyes, “Please promise me you will give him time to grow in the Lord.” I shared with her just because someone walks into a church with a 10 ton Bible does not mean they are a true Christian. “Time is the only thing that will tell you where this man is in the Lord,” and I gave her a big hug. She was so beautiful, and I knew any man would be taken in by her porcelain skin, and big brown eyes. (NEXT WEEK- Don’t miss this TRUE STORY)

Dear Readers,

A hiker walking through the mountains in Canada came across a broken nest, looking around he discovered an egg. Picking up the egg he wrapped it and placed it in his backpack. Reaching his home he thought, maybe this egg can hatch. Having chickens he placed the bigger egg under his hen.

The hen welcomed the egg, and kept it just as warm as the other eggs. One by one the eggs started hatching, and to the hiker’s surprise the bigger egg hatched as well. The hen was the proud mother of all the hatched eggs. Teaching them to scratch for food in the chicken coop, the hiker watched as the strange fuzzy looking bird awkwardly followed the lead of the hen that hatched it.

At night just like all the other chicks it huddled under the hen at her clucks, they all found warmth under the hens wings. Time passed, and the bird was getting so much bigger, and still scratching for food like the other chickens. The hiker noticed this bird is really getting big. More time had passed, and its feathers started to grow into place. One day the hiker noticed another bird soaring back and forth above the chicken coop, getting his binoculars he realized it was a beautiful bald eagle. Its majestic wings spread, and it glided so smoothly in the air. Then the hiker noticed, the bird in the chicken coop kept looking up, he also noticed it was taking shape like the eagle. Yet it continued to scratch like a chicken, acting out like the other chickens.

The hiker built another addition to the coop, and separated the bigger bird, from his chickens. It was looking more and more like an eagle, yet its actions were like a chicken. The hiker noticed as he looked up at the eagle, soaring back and forth, with it’s screeching sound as if it was calling to the eagle in the chicken coop. Yet the eagle just glanced up from time to time. The hiker removed the wire from the top of the coop, and the hiker waited for the eagle to return. Day after day the eagle in the chicken coop just looked and glanced up as the other eagle seemed like it was crying out for him to RISE UP, get out of the chicken coop. Finally one day the hiker noticed the eagle in the coop was paying more attention to the other eagle in the air. Opening his wings trying to fly, it had never flown before, perching on the highest perch in the coop, his eyes continually following the other eagle soaring, he attempted again to fly. The other eagle continually screeching and flying back and forth the hiker said, “It was as if the eagle knew the other needed help to believe what he was born for.”

So many Christians are like that eagle, stuck in the chicken coop; not knowing you are born for greatness. You are created in the image of the Almighty God. When you discover what God says about you and then apply His Word to your life. You can soar to greater heights. Isaiah 40:31; But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like an eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Jesus loves you, don’t let the devil, or your own fears keep you in the chicken coop. Come to church, and let me teach you God’s Word, RISE UP.
